Strata Promo: Slowmadecity.
Slowmadecity is an independent media property dedicated to specialty coffee, craft culture, and the slower side of urban life in Bulgaria. Strata Promo came to us with the editorial concept and the conviction that Sofia deserved a publication this specific. We built the website, the editorial direction, and the operation that has been running through it ever since.
01 — Brief
An independent urban publication, from scratch.
Sofia has cafés worth writing about and craft makers worth photographing, but no publication that takes them seriously as cultural objects. The fashion press is generic; the lifestyle press is sponsored content disguised as editorial; the international slow-living publications don’t speak Bulgarian and don’t know the neighborhoods. Strata Promo’s bet was that an audience exists in Sofia for the same editorial register that publications like Monocle bring to other European cities — but in Bulgarian, focused on what’s actually here, and written by people who drink the coffee they’re recommending. They came to us to build the publication. Editorial property, not a marketing site.
02 — Build
A website, an editorial voice, and the operation that fills it.
The website at slowmadecity.com — designed as an editorial property, not a content marketing template. The editorial direction — calibrated to a specific reader: someone who chooses where to drink their coffee on purpose, who notices the difference between craft and craft-as-aesthetic, who reads in Bulgarian by choice. The editorial operation — ongoing pieces on the people, places, and objects worth attention in Sofia’s slower culture. The distribution layer — social channels run on the same editorial register, not separate marketing voices. All four run inside one platform.
03 — The work
An editorial product that respects its subject and its reader.
Pieces on the specialty coffee roasters who are taking Bulgaria seriously. Pieces on the craft makers — leather, ceramic, print — whose work would hold up in any European city. Pieces on the neighborhoods, the rituals, the quiet decisions that make Sofia’s slower culture worth paying attention to. Each piece written in the editorial register the subject deserves — never advertorial, never breezy lifestyle prose, never the false intimacy of brand-voice writing. The Visibilio Lead on the account holds the editorial discipline across every piece. The publication has built a readership that returns because the writing rewards it.

04 — Operation
An ongoing editorial property, run from one platform.
Regular publication on the website. Social distribution that matches the editorial register, never breaks from it. The intelligence layer surfaces what’s happening in Sofia’s slower culture each cycle. The client team owns the curatorial direction and the relationships with the people the publication writes about; we own the editorial operation that turns those relationships into published work.
05 — Relationship
Their taste set the bar. The operation runs to it.
The taste behind Slowmadecity is Strata Promo’s — the curatorial sense for which café, which roaster, which craft maker deserves a piece. What we built is the editorial operation that can turn that taste into a publication readers actually want. The discipline of the work is the discipline of not letting it drift — not into lifestyle prose, not into marketing voice, not into the international slow-living register that wouldn’t be honest about Sofia. The partnership works because both sides care about the same thing: keeping the publication worth its readers’ time.
